UV inks play a crucial role in the printing industry, but installing UV can encounter various problems during the process, and improper handling will affect the printing quality. Incomplete curing of UV ink and sticky surfaces are common problems when installing UV, so how can we determine if the UV ink is completely cured? Below, we introduce some simple and practical methods, hoping to provide some help.
1. Observation method. This is relatively simple, just use the naked eye to observe the brightness of the UV coating, whether the edges are smooth, and whether there are any bumps, etc.
2. Pressure line method. Put a thin line or hair on the UV ink, and gently press it with your hand for 5 minutes. If the thin line does not stick to the UV ink, and there is no indentation of the thin line on the UV ink, then it can be judged that the UV ink has been completely cured, otherwise it has not been completely cured. This method has the disadvantage that if the UV ink is not completely cured, it will leave a mark on the printed matter, affecting the quality of the printed matter.
3. Solvent method. Drop propionic acid solution on the UV ink. If the UV ink has been completely cured, its physical and chemical properties will be very stable and will not react to the solution, otherwise, dissolution will occur. This method also has the potential drawback of affecting the quality of the printed matter. Potential drawbacks.
4. Hardness test method. This is the method we use to detect the hardness of pencils. If the hardness reaches the standard, it means that the curing is complete; if it does not reach the standard, it means that the curing is incomplete. This is a common and scientific method to determine whether the UV ink is completely cured.
Through the above four methods, it is possible to correctly detect whether the ink is completely cured during UV installation. Among them, the hardness test method is currently used by many customers. You can choose the appropriate method for judgment and detection according to the actual situation.
